Interview
What is the concept behind this Showcase?
I pictured the feeling of summer vacation coming to an end. A time spent gazing at the sea, immersing yourself in memories of summer, and letting your thoughts drift even further back into more distant memories. It's a very human kind of feeling, tinged with a little loneliness, but also mixed with the anxiety and anticipation of a new season about to begin.
What are the highlights of this Showcase?
1.Field Recording at Mie 2022 + Kochi 2021— Yuri Urano
I mixed together field recordings of cicadas that I recorded in two different places. Throughout this mix, I've also tucked in some of my own field recordings here and there. I'd love for you to listen and try to spot where they show up.
2.Red Ocean— Yuri Urano
This is from an EP I released on August 7th of this year, my first release in a while. I made this track with the idea of being like water, letting yourself go with the flow of each passing moment, one moment at a time.
3.Overgrown— James Blake
This is a track I used to listen to a lot back in the day. At the time, I didn't understand much English, but listening to it again now that I can, it hit me in a different way than it used to. I'd really encourage you to pay attention to the lyrics too.
On the genres and styles featured in this Showcase
I didn't really think about genre or style in particular. I just chose songs I love, the ones I felt like listening to right now.
