Yuri Urano
A sound artist who explores the infinite possibilities of sound to create new sonic landscapes.
Her work extends well beyond recorded pieces, including a performance at Prada Extends Tokyo, curated by PRADA and Richie Hawtin.
During a residency at SAT, she created the immersive audiovisual work Metact together with Manami Sakamoto, which premiered at MUTEK Montréal.
She has also handled sound production for the exhibition MATTER'S WHISPER, held at Daigo-ji Temple in Kyoto, among a wide range of other energetic pursuits.

Which artists or labels are you most excited about right now?
- I don't really follow any particular artists or labels. More often than not, I naturally dig deeper into whatever music happens to catch my ear.
Osaka's Local Scene
What is happening in your local music scene right now?
Lately I've mostly been focused on production and haven't been going out much, so I don't know the local music scene all that well.
That said, I do feel like more small, comfortably sized new venues and events are popping up. I think an environment where each community can do what feels natural to it, without straining to be something bigger, is exactly what sparks truly interesting things.

What local spots would you recommend?
Listening Bar
BAR Inc— 心斎橋 / Shinsaibashi
A space filled with an industrial atmosphere and the open feeling of high ceilings. The sound system is great, of course, and the drinks they serve are thoughtfully chosen too, which is wonderful.
Record Shop
Compufunk Records— 北浜 / Kitahama
It's a record shop, but I mainly go there for music events. They also offer record production services, so it's a place where you can enjoy music in many different ways, not just buy it. I also love the relaxed atmosphere by the river.
Café
SHIPPO COFFEE— 京都・山崎 / Yamazaki, Kyoto
A hideaway cafe known for its delicious house roasted coffee. The owner also works as a dressmaker and is well versed in music and art culture, so you can spend a relaxed time there chatting about all kinds of things.

Muzan Editions
An ambient label based in Osaka that keeps putting out cassette releases even now, when digital is the mainstream format. They released one of my own works in the past as well.
