What is the concept behind this Showcase?
To me, ambient music is something that quietly accompanies emotions that cannot be put into words, and offers gentle companionship during moments of solitude. I created this mix with the hope that it would quietly resonate with the listener's inner world. Built around ambient, drone, field recordings, and electroacoustic textures, it invites you on a slow journey through water, memory, distant light, and deep spaces.
What are the highlights of this Showcase?
1.Utopia— zakè, Spieth, Guentner
I chose this track as the opening because it gently unfolds a sense of deep space and quiet openness. The sound never demands attention, instead moving in step with the listener's breathing while naturally introducing the sense of stillness and introspection that runs throughout the mix.
2.Healing Waterfall & Birds in the River— Mind Groove
The sounds of water and birds bring a sense of nature's passage of time into the mix. It offers a feeling of comfort that electronic sounds alone cannot provide, allowing the body to gradually relax. I chose it because it perfectly embodies the central theme of this mix, music that quietly stays close to the heart.
3.Xerrox Canaux— Alva Noto
Placed near the end of the mix, this track leaves behind a subtle electroacoustic presence within its gentle afterglow. Its delicate fluctuations and shimmering textures, like tiny particles of light within the silence, stood out to me. I chose it because I wanted the mix to end not simply in calmness, but with a lingering sense of spaciousness.
On the genres and styles featured in this Showcase
To me, ambient music accompanies moments of solitude and self-reflection, quietly embracing emotions before they can be expressed in words. Immersing myself in sound helps regulate my breathing and awareness, leading me into a state that feels almost like meditation.
