Mica - D is a Uruguayan selector and collector.
Her musical interests and, consequently, her collection are primarily rooted in Dub, not only as a genre but as a concept, constantly searching for unusual and distinctive B-sides, remixes, and anything spiced with striking effects and sounds.
She always looks for a strong, steady, and deep drum and bass foundation, like the beating of a heart.
As a DJ/selecta, she energizes the dance floor with sets full of rub-a-dub, stepper, dancehall, Spanish reggae, ragga, electro merengue, 90s Latin house, reggaeton, and trap, though she can also surprise with punk, post-punk, synth pop, and 80s-inspired tracks.

What are your musical roots?
During my teenage years, Argentine rock was the music that left the deepest impression on me. In my twenties, I discovered dub, and it became the key that opened up a whole musical universe, one that continues to inspire me to this day.

What is happening in your local music scene right now?
Uruguay has many talented electronic music producers, but almost everything happens late at night. Montevideo lacks daytime spaces such as listening bars, and too many promoters seem to prioritize social media engagement and crowd size over musical quality.
What local spots would you recommend?

I've been keeping to myself lately, but La Washington Pulpería in Punta del Este is probably the closest thing Uruguay has to a true listening bar. It also has my favorite music selection.
