What is the concept behind this Showcase?
Looking out at summer's towering cumulonimbus clouds from inside a cool car, feeling a little flushed and hazy-headed. Life is hectic, but I feel like this turned into an honest, unpretentious roadside music that weaves between all kinds of scenes. Personally, I think a DJ mix is a rich medium, something like peeking into someone's personal diary and reminiscing. Please listen to it as a small comfort along your adventures.
What are the highlights of this Showcase?
1.When Will The Day Come— Joy Spheres Rees
Sweet and languid in a way. Essential for sharing the mood right at the doorway into the mix.
2.Aspen Colorado— Boozoo Bajou & Tony Joe White
A long-swim dub, drifting across summer's vast sky alongside a mirage.
3.Smells Like Content— The Books
The Books' sense of texture feels like it sparks a kind of chemical reaction within the mix's hazy, blurred world.
On the genres and styles featured in this Showcase
With ambient and downtempo as the foundation, I've woven in jazz, R&B, and folktronica along with my own personal image of the city. I keep this in mind even within dance sets, and in the end, this is a scene of roadside music that connects one city to another.
